Archaeologist/Heritage Advisor/Artefact Coordinator

Emma Watts

Emma Watts is an Archaeologist/Heritage Advisor/Artefact Coordinator who has worked in the Victorian heritage management industry for over two and a half years. She has worked on various projects throughout Victoria, including survey and subsurface testing for urban and residential subdivisions, developments and renewable energy initiatives, as well as large archaeological salvages.

Emma’s postgraduate research investigated the formation of use-wear traces on silcretes of various textural characteristics, with her analysis of silcrete tools from Lake Mungo providing a powerful example of the conclusions that can be drawn by combining use-wear and residue studies.

While Emma has primarily worked on Aboriginal sites throughout Victoria, she also has experience in excavating Mycenaean and Roman contexts. Emma has experience in archaeological survey, manual subsurface testing and salvage excavation, site recording, preparing CHMPs, and lithic recording and analysis.

When she’s not at work, Emma loves being outdoors amongst nature, creating art, pole dancing and collecting Darth Maul memorabilia (she even has a Darth Maul tattoo!)
